William E. Selep, age 84 of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 20, 1926 in Oliver #1, PA, son of Joseph Selep, Sr. and Rose (Clay) Selep.

The last member of his immediate family, William was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph Selep, Jr., and sisters, Eleanor Gazda, Ruth Kraynak, and Catherine Selep.



William retired from United States Steel Corp in 1985. He was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47. During WWII and the Korean War he proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth M. (Pergalske) Selep; their children, Mary Beth Baker, R.N., and husband David of Washington, PA; and Atty. Joseph W. Selep and his wife Atty. Joni Selep of Upper St. Clair, PA; five grandchildren, Jill Kottner and husband William of Canonsburg, PA; Atty. Joshua Baker and wife Caitlin of Bethel Park, PA; Justin Selep, Joseph Selep, and Jordan Elizabeth Selep, all of Upper St. Clair, PA; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, today December 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Friday, December 31, 2010 until 12:30 p.m. when prayers will be said.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 120 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Father John Joseph Gonchar, OFM as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, PA, where military honors will be accorded by AMVETS Post 103
