William H. "Bill" Pollard Jr., 98, of Moon Township, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born at home, in Lemont Furnace, PA, on March 7, 1920, a son of the late William H. Pollard Sr., and Nancy (Davis) Pollard.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughters, Wanda Hagood and Toni Breckenridge; his brothers and sisters, Herbert Pollard, JD Pollard, Robert Pollard, Harold Pollard, Jack Pollard, Howard Pollard, Christina Yarborough, Jean Ryans, and Phyllis Betters; and his sons-in-law, Royal D. Hart Sr. and Alexander Hagood.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He entered service on August 2, 1944 assigned to Camp Claiborne, LA. He embarked for France, January 26, 1945, with the Engr. Trk. Co. he was also part of the Armv of Occupation in France. Bill was a great guy who had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off of his back. Above all he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife, of 79 years, Elizabeth (Parker) Pollard, of Moon Twp.; his daughter, Rose Hart, of Robinson Twp.; his grandchildren, Richard Hart (Salina Franklin), of Arlington, TX, Royal D. Hart Jr., (Boyanne), of Aliquippa, PA, Alacia Reeves (Daryl), Stephanie Hagood, of Clairton, PA, Byron Breckenridge (Latoya) of Rockwall, TX, and Gavin Breckenridge of Wichita, KS ; 13 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; his sisters, Arona Cook, Patricia Pollard, and Barbara Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Hour of Service with Reverend Crable Officiating.
Interment will be held in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
