Walter Edward Kasievich's Obituary
Walter Edward Kasievich, Sr., age 86, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2011.
He was born on July 28, 1924, in Rachael, WV, son of the late Frank Kasiewicz and Nellie (Stanock) Kasiewicz. Walter was also preceded in death by a brother, John Kasievich.
Walter was a graduate of German Township High School, and a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He retired from United States Steel Corp. as Superintendant of Operations, after over 35 years in the coal mining industry.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the Catholic War Veterans, the Holy Name Society, and V.F.W. Post 47.
Walter also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 64 years, Pauline P. Kasievich of Uniontown, PA.; four children, Walter E. Kasievich Jr. and wife Cynthia of Greensburg, PA., Vincent K. Kasievich of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert P. Kasievich of Uniontown, PA, and Bernard E. Kasievich of Uniontown, PA; ten grandchildren, Walter E. Kasievich, III., David J. Kasievich, Kristi Gibilisco, Candice M. Jordan, Karla M. Wolff, Robert N. Kasievich., Natalie A. Kasievich, Justine N. Hlebechuk, Miranda M. Hlebechuk, and Breesa L. Kasievich; six great grandchildren; a sister, Jean White of Wickliffe, OH; a brother-in-law, John Bransky of Daytona Beach, FL.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bransky of Maple Heights, OH, and Sr. Teresa Margaret Bransky, of Pittsburgh, PA.; and a niece, Janice Schmidt.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Wednesday, July 27 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.; and on Thursday, July 28 until 9:15 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA.
Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, PA., where military honors will be accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post #103.
The Catholic War Veterans will hold services Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
