Vincent Daniel DeNardo, age 95 of Masontown died peacefully at home on May 31, 2017 with his wife Rose, as always, by his side.

Born March 25, 1922 in Gray's Landing, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances (Colianna) DeNardo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Angelina Zavilinski.

Vincent proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII and was part of the Normandy Invasion on D-Day at Omaha Beach. He was a Life Member and Past Post Commander of the Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584; also a Life Member of Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 Hopwood, Knights of Columbus Council # 4261, Italo-American Citizens Club, Masontown, and the Masontown Fish and Game Club.

Vincent was a member of the Masontown City Council for 4 years and served as head usher for 60 years at All Saints Church, currently St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was affectionately known as "Jim", "Sam", and "Tony" by his family and many friends.

Vincent was retired from U. S. Steel Corp after 43 years as an accountant. In 1941 he graduated from German Township High School where he was the team's quarterback for three years. He continued as an avid football fan the rest of his life. He coached the Masontown Little League between 1953-60 and was Coach of the 1956-57 All Star Team.

Surviving is the light of his life Rose (Korona) DeNardo to whom he was married for 70 wonderful years; a son Dennis Ray DeNardo and wife Donna (Gunderson) of Fish Creek, WI, a daughter Renee Kluding and husband Tom of Norwalk, OH; 3 grandchildren, Cara DeNardo Williams, Melissa DeNardo, and Thomas J. McGookey; and 2 great grandchildren, Maja and Anja Williams; sisters, Pearl Bailey of Bridgeville, PA and Eleanor Druzilla of Ellicott City, MD, and many nieces and nephews, especially Frank "Bud" and Kathy Korona.

Our family would like to extend special thanks to 365 Hospice nurses and caregivers.

Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Friday, June 2, from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.; and on Saturday, June 3, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, PA, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA, where military honors will be accorded.
