Obituary

Vera Ruth Nickman, 80, of Uniontown, PA, died peacefully on Thursday morning, July 16, 2015. She was born in Uniontown on July 4, 1935, daughter of Charles Howard MacBurney and Grace Eva (Treutle) MacBurney.

Her parents preceded her in death, as did her sister Betty Dorcas Murphy, making her the last member of her immediate family.

Ruthie earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education at California State College, and was employed with the Albert Gallatin School District for 27 years as a Teacher at A. L. Wilson Elementary School in Fairchance. She was a member of St. George Maronite Catholic Church of Uniontown, and was a loyal. loving, and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, Elias Edward Nickman; three children, Dr. Stephanie Nickman Triplett and husband Dr. Bruce E. Triplett, Susan Claire Sleighter and husband Robert W. Sleighter, and Elias Edward Nickman, Jr. and fiance Jaime L. Dice, all of Uniontown, PA; eight grandchildren, Nicole Leigh Sleighter, Rachel Elizabeth Sleighter, Natalie Kristine Sleighter, Robert W. Sleighter, Jr., Victoria Ruth Nickman, Eliza Clare Nickman, Nina Marie Nickman, and Elie Grace Nickman; her niece and nephews, Janice Henderson, and Dennis Murphy both of Lancaster, PA, and Bruce Murphy of Minnesota.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA on Sunday, July 19, from 7-9 pm, Monday, July 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday morning, July 21, until 9:30 a.m.

A Divine Liturgy will follow on Tuesday at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, PA, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father Sami Chaaya, M.L.M. as Celebrant.

Entombment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.

The Service of Ghinnaz will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
