Velma Patricia (Magda) Lamance , age 92, passed away at home in Lemont Furnace Friday, May 11, 2012. Known to many as Aunt Velma, she was generous and giving to all and lived life to the fullest.
She was born on April 28, 1920, in Lemont Furnace, Pa.
A lifelong member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Velma retired from W. T. Grant as a fashion buyer in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen E. Lamance, her parents Mary and Paul Magda and her sisters Anna Kaas, Mary Shuster, Katherine Meosky Miscik, Helen Zuker, Elizabeth Miscik and brother Walter Magda.
She is survived by her sister Frances L. Cornish of Addison, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her close friends; The Carl Bryner Family, Helen McElroy and MaryLou Shimko who gave her love and attention.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc. 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, Pa. Sunday May 13, 2012 from 3-9 p.m., and on Monday May 14, 2012 until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.
A Parish Wake Service will be held Sunday May 13, 2012 at 7 PM.
Interment will follow in St Mary Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Mary's Church or North Union Volunteer Fire Dept.
