Obituary

Thomas A. Link, 80 of Smock, PA passed away suddenly Friday November 29, 2019 while he was at home doing what he loved, chopping wood in the yard. He was born November 22, 1939, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Kukan) Link. Tom was a veteran of the US Army serving from September 1957 to August 1960. He was also a member of the Grindstone Lion's Club, the Smock Community Center where he served as President, and the Smock Volunteer Fire Department where he held office as Chaplain and Secretary. After retiring from the US Dept. of Energy as a Research Physicist; he drove school bus van for Rittenhouse Bus Lines for many years. Tom thoroughly loved and enjoyed driving the children in the van every day. He loved the community of Smock and the community loved Tom. He gave back with his time by helping others. Tom had been a lifelong member of St. Hedwig RC Church in Smock until its closure, and now currently a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Perryopolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Valeria Kukan and John and Mary Lenk, and also by his brother Frank Link. Tom was devoted to God and family. He loved his family dearly and especially his four grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Bernadine (Sankovich) Link, his son David and wife Mary Jane and their sons Daniel, Matthew and Andrew, and his daughter Shelley Saliba and husband Gerry and their son Jeremy. Family and friends will be received at Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. Uniontown on Thursday from 5-8 PM and Friday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM and Saturday until 9:45 AM when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, Perryopolis, PA with Fr. Efren Ambre as celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Hedwig's Cemetery Smock with full military honors to be accorded. The Parish Rosary will be recited on Friday at 3 PM in the funeral home.
