Obituary

Thelma Grace (Bowser) Richter, age 91, passed away on Sunday September 1, 2013 at Generations Elder Care after a long illness.

She was born March 29, 1922 to Bruce and Esther (Cramer) Bowser in Listonburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and due to her mothers death at age four, she was also preceded in death by her foster parents Albert and Mary Ringer of Maryland, her husband of seventy years Edwin Richter, son-in-law Ralph L. Whipkey, infant granddaughters Melissa and Juliann Whipkey, a sister Marie Swayne, foster brothers Herbert and Charles Ringer and foster sisters Ruth Ringer and Margaret Richter.

Thelma owned and operated Richter Construction in Uniontown with her husband for over 30 years., They both had farming backgrounds and managed to do the combination most of their lives.

She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Pa.

Her list of hobbies, skills and accomplishments would be long, but summing up her life would be best expressed by the words, courage, strength, character, wit, hard work, honesty, determination and most of all devotion and love for her family and the Lord.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters; Loretta Roebuck and husband Stanley "Mike" of East Millsboro, Pa., Patricia Armel and husband Dale, son Ronald Richter and wife Nema all of Uniontown, Pa., Grandchildren; Brian Whipkey and wife Danna, Christine Buckley, Patrick Richter and wife Amy all of Uniontown, Pa., and Matthew Richter and wife Jennifer of Reading, Pa., great grandchildren Kirsty Swaney and husband Jason, Christian Kyler, Kolt and Kolin Buckley, Kristen Brownfield and husband T.J., Brittney and Melissa Whipkey and Shawn and Ryan Richter, great great grandchildren; Alora Brownfield, Shayne Swaney and Elayna Lawrence. She is also survived by her brother George Bowser, and sisters Elaine O'Neal and Eloise Harned and foster sister Mary Bach.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Entombment will be private in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Uniontown, PA.
