Sylvia Agnes Roger, 89, of Uniontown, was called home on Monday, November, 13, 2017. She was born, Saturday, January 21, 1928, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Joseph) Roger.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, John J. Roger, in 1989; and sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Roger, in 2012.
Sylvia was a life-long member of St. George Maronite Catholic Church, Uniontown, where she served as Organ-Music Minister for over 40 years until her retirement in 1988. She would return to that position in 1998. She also served as Lector; Member of the Ladies' Guild of St. George; Altar-Rosary Society of St. George, Liturgical Commission; Archive Committee; and many more Parish Committees over the years. She was a Charter Member and past National Officer of the National Apostolate of Maronites; Charter Member and past officer of the Catholic Business and Professional Women's Association, Queen of Peace Chapter; Charter Member and past President of the Greensburg Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, on the local and diocesan level; past member and Recording Secretary of the Uniontown YMCA Board of Directors; Woman of the Year by ALSA in 1985. Sylvia received the Massabki Silver Medal, for outstanding work in the Eparchy (Diocese) of St. Maron USA, in 1987. She was a member and served as officer of the Fayette County Legal Stenographers and the National Secretaries Associations, a past member of Greater Uniontown Chorale; past volunteer usher at the State Theatre for the Arts; she was also a member of the Praise the Living God Prayer Group.
Sylvia was a graduate of St. John High School, Class of 1947, as Salutatorian. She took various courses in Insurance and computers over the years.
Left to cherish her memory, are her sister, Betty Jo Roger Wilson and her husband N. Keith Wilson, of Locust Grove, VA; nephews, John J. Roger and his wife Barbara, of Chapel Hill, NC, David K. Roger and his wife Brenda, of Pittsburgh, PA, Richard Keith Wilson and his wife Susan, of Stafford, VA, Roger K. Wilson and his wife Debbie, Woodbridge, VA, Robert K. Wilson, of Washington D.C., Ryan K. Wilson and wife Marthea, of Clarksville, MD; many great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, both local and in Lebanon.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Monday, November 20, from 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday, November 21, until 10:30 when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
Divine Liturgy will follow in St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, at 11 a.m. with Father El-Badaoui Habib as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
The Parish Rosary will be held Monday, at 6 p.m.
