Susanna M. "Sue" (Kolek) Duranko, 97, of Uniontown, died on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL.
Born on March 31, 1915 in Uniontown (Phillips), PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Suzanna Kolek. Her husband John Duranko passed away on July 16, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Susanna was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Uniontown, for many years, where she was affiliated with the Ladies Guild, and Holy Rosary Society.
She, along with other dedicated women participated in the St. John's Friday "Perohi fundraising sessions" that provided the church and former school with much needed funds.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John A. Duranko, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, and her daughter, Barbara Duranko Romett of Butler, PA; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Brian; and six great grandchildren, Julia, Landon, Tyler, John, Natalia, and Brittney; three sisters, Margaret Podlogar of Uniontown, PA; Ann Kolek of Washington, D.C.; Kay Anastasi of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA. on Monday, April 1, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m; and on Tuesday, April 2, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. when the Panachida Service will be held.
The Divine Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 185 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko as Celebrant.
Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, PA.
The Parastas Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday evening at 8 p.m.
