Steven C. Elek, 73, of Uniontown, PA, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1941 in Uniontown, son of the late Steven M. and Thelma C. (Orgovan) Elek.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret A. (Winsler) Elek in 2007.
Steven was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown. He was a Coal Miner for Bailey Mine and Consol Energy Company from which he retired.
During the Vietnam War, Steven proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 51, and UMWA District 2.
Surviving is his daughter Sherry Logue and husband Bob of New Salem; a grandson, Tim Logue and fiance Amber Bowlen; a sister, Joan Baird Mickey and husband Lucian; a brother, Thomas E. Elek and companion Dianne Rossini, all of Uniontown; and many dear nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday until 9 a.m. when military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 8543 and V.V. I. of Fayette County.
The Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, with Rev. Father James D. Tringhese as Celebrant.
Interment will be private.
