Obituary

Steve "Teff" Rakushin, age 85 of Uniontown, PA., passed away, at home on Sunday, July 14, 2013, with his family by his side.

He was born on January 19, 1928 in Upper Peanut (Waltersburg), PA., son of the late George Rakushin Sr. and Barbara Ann (Ujfalusy) Rakushin.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by four brothers, George Rakushin Jr., John Rakushin, Mike Rakushin and Joe Rakushin; and four sisters, Elizabeth Hirko, Julia Salava, Ann Gerber, and Mary Munk.

He is survived by his wife Ruth (Cooley) Rakushin; sisters, Erma Voytek, and Helen Dolobach; sons, Stephen Rakushin (Christine) of Waltersburg, PA., William Rakushin of Fredrick, MD., James Rakushin (Debra) of Upper Middletown, PA., and John Rakushin of Uniontown, PA.; daughters, Ruth Ann Fitzsimmons (David), of Uniontown, PA., and Laura Chesslo (William) of Smithfield, PA.; grandchildren, Crystal (Rakushin) Geiger, Cherie Dolan, Andrea (Rakushin) Lee, Erin Fitzsimmons, Erica Griffin, Bradley Rakushin, Josh Chesslo, Kori Skinner, and Jacob Chesslo; great grandchildren; a special nephew, George Rakushin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Steve retired from Columbia Gas after 48 years of service. He was a deputy for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, a hunter's safety instructor, and a probation officer.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in New Salem, PA.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, farming at "Peanut Heaven" and spending time with his family.

Friends will be received at the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC. 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA. on Tuesday, July 16 from 5-8PM, on Wednesday, July 17 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM, and on Thursday, July 18 from 10-11AM, the hour of service with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
