Stephen Andrew Chatlas, 75, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born on September 18, 1942 in Uniontown, son of the late Stephen Andrew Chatlas, Sr. and Helen (Teich) Chatlas.
Stephen was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church. He graduated From North Union High School Class of 1960, and attended Penn State through U.S. Steel for Metallurgy. He also graduated from welding school and became a Certified Welder. He had been employed with United States Steel Corp., and was the owner of N&S Discounts. He enjoyed history, discovering treasures at Flea Markets, and spending time with his family, especially Sunday drives or going out to eat.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Nancy (Gaskill) Chatlas, their children, Robin Marcus and husband Stephen of Morgantown, WV, Rebecca Manches and husband John "Yo" of Uniontown, Pa., and Susane Borek and husband Thomas "Bubba: of Vanderbilt, Pa; grandchildren, Stephen Marcus and Emily, Jennifer Pitts and husband Chad,, Elizabeth Chatlas, Thomas Borek, and Madelyn Borek; a great granddaughter, Chelsie Chatlas; a sister, Loretta Stasko and husband Joseph "Barry" of Uniontown, Pa; nieces and nephews, and many furry friends, including "Fuby".
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, February 25, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., also on Monday, February 26, when Prayers of Transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m.
The Funeral Mass will follow on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as celebrant.
Entombment will be held at Sylvan Heights Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
The Parish Wake Service led by the Lazarus Ministry will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m.
