Stanley S. Stanish, age 85, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2011 at home.

He was born on September 18, 1925 in Vance's Mill, PA, son of Stephen and Anna (Ciesla) Stanish.

The last member of his immediate family, Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Matthew Stanish, James M. Stanish, Rudy Stanish, and Edward Stanish, Sr., and 2 sisters, Antoinette Stimak, and Matilda Kauchak.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of sixty-three years, Mary J. (Mysza) Stanish; their sons, Charles Stanish, and James Stanish and wife Barbara; two grandchildren, James Michael Stanish, and Erika Ann Stanish; and many nieces and nephews.

Stanley was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, PA, and was a Steel Worker retired from United States Steel Corp. Irwin Works.

He proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army, and was a Lifetime member of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47.



Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, May 22, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.; and on Monday, May 23, until 9:15 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father Ronald L. Simboli as Celebrant.

Interment will be held at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, PA, where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 51 and North Union VFW Post 8543.
