Sara Jean (Mattie) Piccolomini, 87, of Cardale, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 22, 1930, in Brownsville, PA, daughter of the late Ettore and Serafina Mattie.

Sara was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis I. Piccolomini, on October 26, 1996; and her siblings, Amerigo Mattie, Nellie Meloni, Raymond Mattie, Francis Mattie, and Sereno Mattie.

Sara was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Footedale, PA. She was the owner of Mama Pic's Restaurant and owner-operator of Vista View Plaza, in Latrobe. She was a member of the Fairbank Bowling League and the Sons of Italy Lodge. Most importantly, Sara was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She loved cooking and entertaining with family and friends. Sara had a magnetic personality and a captivating smile. She was kind to all and was loved in return by everyone she met.

Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Louis E. Piccolomini, Anthony I. Piccolomini and his wife Dawn, and Renee P. Geshay and her husband Dr.James Geshay; her grandchildren, Jeanine Piccolomini, Tyler Geshay, Lauren Geshay, and Michael Geshay.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Monday, March 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 13, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Footedale, PA, 528 Footedale Rd, Footedale, PA at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.

Entombment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
