Obituary

Ruth Marie Rice, age 77, formerly of Uniontown, PA and Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Country Meadows Nursing Center, Bethlehem, PA.

Ruth was born on February 17, 1933 in Johnstown, PA, daughter of the late John Pavlo, and Susan Krichko Pavlo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Jeffrey I. Rice; and a brother John Pavlo.

Ruth was a faithful member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Altar Guild, and a former choir member. She worked as a Receptionist for the Herald Standard for over 40 years. Ruth was dedicated to those in need. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Ruth was kind and generous and above all else enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is her loving husband, Ira Rice; her daughter, Susan Bero with her husband James of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren; James L. Bero Jr. with wife Erin of Louisville, KY., Alyse Marie Bero of Dayton, OH and her fiance Brian Haren of Troy, OH., and Rachel McMahon and husband Brian of West Chester, OH.; two sisters, Anna Polca of Johnstown, PA., and Lydia Gawlas and husband John of Armagh, PA.; two brothers Daniel Pavlo of Pensacola, FL., and David Pavlo and wife Janet of Johnstown, PA.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext.,Uniontown, PA on Sunday, February 6, from 12-5 PM and on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 10 AM until 11 AM, when closing prayers will be said.

A Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Peters Lutheran Church, located at 121 Walnut Hill Rd. Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Paul Frank Officiating.

Visitation will also be held at the Ozog Funeral Home, 710 Broad St., Johnstown, PA, on Tuesday, Febrauary 8, 2011 from 10 AM until 11 AM, the Hour of Service. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
