Obituary

Rose Marie (Zaporowsky) Pindrock, age 91, a well-known resident of Smock, PA, died on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Uniontown Hospital with her loving children and family at her side, following a courageous 2 ½ year battle with breast cancer.

She was born on August 31, 1923 in Royal, PA, the second oldest of 9 children born to Walter and Bernice (Bartowick) Zaporowsky. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather John McKulka, brothers, Alfred and Edward Zaporowsky, a sister, Dorothy Jankovic, and her husband Joseph John Pindrock on September 13, 2002.

Rose worked as a maid along with her sister Dorothy in Washington, D.C. and Chevy Chase, MD. She also worked at Christy Park and later spent 25 years as a glass selector at Anchor-Hocking in Connellsville.

She married Joseph John Pindrock on May 16, 1942, and together they shared 60 years of marriage together.

Rose enjoyed gardening, planting many beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed canning and baking desserts for her family. She worshiped at St. Hedwig Church in Smock, PA, and recently joined St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Perryopolis.

She is survived by her three loving children: her daughter, Patricia Crable, who was her nurse and caregiver, and her husband Ted of Uniontown, PA; two sons: Bernard J. Pindrock and wife Priscilla of Eighty-Four, PA; Joseph M. Pindrock and wife Joyce of Uniontown, PA; five grandchildren: Angela Hudik and husband David of Vanderbilt, PA, Gina and Troy Campbell of Uniontown, PA, Joseph M. Pindrock, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Vanderbilt, PA, Jennifer Lee Crable of San Francisco, CA, and Sara Jane Becks and husband Scott of Sanford, FL. Also, Stephanie Angelini and husband Marty, and William Valentine; twelve great grandchildren: Rachel Hudik, Jessica Hudik, D. J. Hudik(deceased), Sean Boskovich, Jade Olivia Campbell, Troy (T. J.) Campbell, Joseph M. Pindrock, III., Jenna Rose Pindrock, Jocelyn Pindrock, Jillian Marie Becks, Jackson Becks, and Joshua Becks; two brothers, Robert Zaporowsky of Florida, John McKulka and wife Sue of Baltimore, MD; sisters: Bernice Manos of Brownsville, PA, Joanne Matula of Fredericktown, PA, and Drs. Caroline and William Dando of Terra Haute, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Drs. Cary McMonagle, Paul Hartley, Rachael Jankowitz, and the staff of UPMC Cancer Center at Magee Hospital for their wonderful care. Also, special thanks to Tony Peroni, Linette, Sherry, and all who cared for her at Peroni's Personal Care Home.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, (today) Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Monday until 9:30 a.m.

A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Parish, 3332 Pittsburgh Rd., Perryopolis, PA, with Rev. Father Anthony W. Ditto as Celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Smock, PA.
