Rose M. Kopec (Kowalczyk), age 91, of Masontown, Pennsylvania, passed away quietly on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. She was born on May 23, 1920, in Oliver, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Bania) Kowalczyk.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (Tony) on November 7, 2004, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were brothers John Kowalczyk, Stanley Kowalczyk and Frank Kowalczyk, sisters Mary Miscik, Anna Kowalczyk , and Helen Arendash.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister Blanche Meosky, daughter Karen (Mark) Hughes, son John (Laurie) Kopec, grandchildren Amy Hughes, Corey Hughes, Kelsey Kopec and Ryan Kopec. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Edward Kopec and Joseph Arendash, sisters-in-law Alfreda Kopec and Louise Manchas, many nieces and nephews.

Rose worked at the Berkowitz Shirt Factory until she left employment in 1955 to raise her family. She was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Haky Funeral Home, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa. from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday morning, June 11, 2011, until 10 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with Father John Butler as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, PA

A Parish Wake service will be held Friday at 3 PM. followed by the Rosary.
