Robert Vincent Taylor, 92, of Lemont Furnace, PA, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on February 24, 1923 in Lock Haven, PA,

He resided in Pennsville, PA with his Aunt and Uncle in his teen years, and was a graduate of Connellsville High School, Class of 1941. He was employed with the Christy Park Defense Plant in McKeesport when Pearl Harbor was attacked. In 1942, during WWII, he joined the United States Navy, aboard the L.S.T. 129 Landing Ship, Pacific Theater of Operations, where he proudly served his country during the invasions of Saipan, Tinian and Peleliu. Robert married Lauretta Elaine Morgan in 1949, and had five sons

After the war, he was employed at the Liberty Powder Company in Mt. Braddock for 13 years. When the plant closed he worked at Rockwell International for 30 years, until his retirement in 1991. He belonged to the North Union VFW Post 8543, and the Uniontown Senior Center. Methodist by faith, Robert belonged to the Wesley United Methodist Church in Connellsville. His favorite hobby was playing the harmonica, which he played frequently for the residents and staff at Mount Macrina Manor where he resided for the past year.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (O'Connell) Taylor Jump, his wife Lauretta Elaine (Morgan) Taylor in 2006; and sons, Robert V. Taylor, Jr. and William Camden Taylor.

He is survived by three sons, James Morgan Taylor, David Allen Taylor, and Brian Douglas Taylor; and four grandchildren, Ellison, Noah, Dawson, and Savannah.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, March 27, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Hour of Service, with Rev. Dave Elay Officiating.

Military honors will follow, accorded by VFW 8543 and Fayette County Vietnam Veterans.

Interment will be private at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
