Robert Lee Mullen, of Uniontown, PA, died on Friday, March 4, 2011 in Lafayette Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 22, 1924 in Wheeling, WV, son of John Francis and Kathryn (Hamilton) Mullen.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Robin Lee Harding, brothers, John, Richard, Stromede, and Clyde Mullen, and his sisters, Katherine Dutton, Margaret Reese, Mary Gertrude Mullen, Hazel Ward, and infant Jannette.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.
He was a graduate of West Virginia University. After graduation he became the Assistant Administrator at Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, WV. In 1962, he moved to Uniontown where he worked as the Administrator of the Uniontown Hospital until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine (Brown) Mullen and his beloved children, Steven W. Mullen and wife Carol of Cordova, TN; Tracie A. (Mullen) Sabatine of Pittsburgh, PA, and son-in-law, John Harding of New Brighton, PA, grandchildren, Carla Williams, Cary (Williams) Pascoe, Allison (Harding) and Aaron Thompson, John and Meghan Harding, Brian Mullen, Brad and Beth Mullen, Adrienne (Sabatine) and David Milsom, Gerad and Emily Sabatine, Leanne (Sabatine) and Brian Falce, and 15 great-grandchildren.
At the personal request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation, and interment will be private.
