Robert O. "Bob" Lancaster, 80, of Masontown, PA, died on Friday, June 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in McClellandtown, PA, on December 22, 1935 son of the late Owen and Laura (Altmeyer) Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Bob served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from West Virginia University in 1996 where he worked as an Environmental Services Supervisor. For many years he was active in the Lions Club, receiving the Diamond Member Award and Ross Di Marco Award. He had in the past been a member of the AMVETS and American Legion. He enjoyed attending vintage car shows and spending time with his family.
Bob had a gift for making people laugh, leading to many longtime friendships and wonderful memories. He was deeply loved by many, and will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-eight years, Edith (Brown) Lancaster; their children. Gina Evans and husband Douglas of Bruceton Mills, WV, Michael Lancaster of Masontown, PA, Kathleen Murphy of Nashville, TN, Mark Lancaster and wife Shelly of Fond du Lac, WI, and Gloria Lancaster and fiance Mark of Uniontown, PA; six grandchildren, Donald Kemp and wife Sara, Sean Murphy, Leigh Lancaster, Brendan Murphy, Savanna Lancaster, and Robbie Lancaster; a great granddaughter, Sophia Kemp; a brother, Andrew Lancaster of Masontown, PA; and many nieces and nephews and their families.. He also leaves behind his faithful pet "Myley".
Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Tuesday, June 28, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; and on Wednesday, June 29, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Hour of Service, with Pastor Lee Maley Officiating.
Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Geneva, PA, where military honors will be accorded.
