Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Robert A. "Bob" Tupta, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with his loving family at his side.

He was known for his humor and brought smiles to many faces.  He had a deep love of family and his many friends that he had made over his 88 years on this earth.  When asked if he regretted not traveling, he replied, "I loved my life just the way I lived it and would do it all over again!"

Bob was born in Uniontown, on November 24, 1936, son of the late Andrew J. and Helen K. Tupta.

He graduated from St. John's High School and worked at White Swan Flower Shop, where he met his loving wife, Carolyn.  He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and had many jobs to make ends meet for his family.  His love of work lead him to establish his own business as a general contractor.  He operated his business for well over thirty years, along with his sons, Rob and Jim.

Over the years, he made many friends easily and loved having a beer with them down at his garage.  After his long overdue retirement, you might find him back at the Hutchinson or Oliver ballparks, which he was instrumental in getting those fields built, watching his grandsons and granddaughters play ball with his wife and golden retriever, KC, at his side.  When he could no longer go to the ballpark he enjoyed sitting on his front porch and loved when family, friends, old employees and neighbors would stop by and share a conversation or old story.  Bob was a charming guy that always made you laugh, even while he was struggling with Parkinson's disease, he never lost his sense of humor.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn R. Tupta; an infant daughter, Joan Tupta; his parents, Andrew J. and Helen K. Tupta; and a brother, Charles Tupta.

He leaves behind his loving children, Janice (Eric) Sutton, Robert (Billie Jo Yuhaniak) Tupta, Susan (Jerome) Filicky, and James (Julie) Tupta; grandchildren, Mason Tupta, Ben (Kelsey) Sutton, Jacob Filicky, Jarrod (Maria) Sutton, Amanda Filicky, Katelyn Sutton, Drew Tupta, and Abram Tupta; great granddaughters, Grace Sutton, Eillie Sutton, and Josie Sutton.  Bob leaves his family united by love, gratitude, and the values he and his wife instilled in each of them.

Visitation for Bob will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401 on Wednesday, April 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 2 PM at St. Mary Nativity Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon St., Uniontown, PA 15401.

Interment is in Sylvan Heights cemetery.

The family would like to thank Lafayette Manor for their dedicated care and kindness that was shown to our father and our family. To OSPTA Hospice, we could not have got through this process without Brittany, Emily, Sally, Heather, Carey, and the hospice Chaplin, your support was greatly appreciated and gave us comfort over the last year.  To the Roman catholic churches and members of the Knights of Columbus, thank you for providing the residents of Lafayette Manor with a mass that they could participate in.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help with research and find a cure for Parkinson's disease or improved therapies at www.give.michaeljfox.org

Written condolences are encouraged and accepted through our online guest book at www.hakyfuneralhome.com
