Richard " Rick" S. Homistek, 80 of Uniontown passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Born December 2, 1944 in Uniontown, son of the late Stephen and Kathryn "Kay" (Bednarik) Homistek. He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl (Slater) Homistek and his son Derek Homistek. He is survived by his children Ryan (Kelley) Homistek of Albuquerque, NM and Lesley (Steve) Wilson of Apex, NC; his beloved grandchildren; Sam King, Rhylee and Kolbe Homistek and Henry and Ben Wilson; his sister Mary Beth Homistek of Connellsville and Rick's companion Patricia Parisse. Rick was a graduate of California University of PA with a Masters in Education. He taught for 36 years in the English Dept. as a Reading Specialist and Reading Supervisor for Southmoreland School District. He was a football coach there for 5 years and sponsored the Senior Class for 22 years, and was a Adjunct Professor at Penn State Fayette Campus. He belonged to the NEA, PSEA, National Reading Association, Keystone State Reading Association, National Council of Teacher's of English and the PSEA Retired Teachers. He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church of Uniontown, a member of Parish Council, a Faith Formation instructor, the RCIA Team Member, as a Usher, and Prayer Warrior. Rick was a member of the Community Foundation of Fayette County, the BPOE Lodge of Uniontown, the Defenders of Wildlife and the National Wildlife Group. Visitation at Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. Uniontown on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Thursday Prayers of Transfer at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 50 Jefferson Ave. Uniontown at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Mt St. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Light of Life Mission in Pittsburgh or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
