Representative Fred Taylor, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Marquis Gardens Place, Uniontown, PA. He was born in Adah, PA, on August 30, 1931, son of Clifton and Helen (Moats) Taylor.
His parents, wife, Gloria Theresa (Cippoletti) Taylor, son Jeffrey Taylor, and brothers, Bill and J.C. Taylor preceded him in death.
Fred represented the Fayette County 51st District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for several terms from 1967-1992. He was the owner and operator of Taylor Insurance Agency, served on the executive committee, and was a legislative director for the Fayette County Democratic Party for many years.
He was a graduate of Fairchance High School, and attended Murray Hill Business School. During the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of the Alaskan Ski Patrol. He was an avid golfer and member of Nemacolin Golf Club, and member of the Outdoor Sportsmen of Pennsylvania, and many local military and social organizations.
Surviving are his loving children, Patsy Taylor-Moore, Toni Taylor-Cavasina and husband Dr. Richard Cavasina, Rita Jean Taylor, and Fred Taylor, II. and wife Peggy; six grandchildren, Fred Taylor, III. and wife Eileen, Morgan DeAngeles and husband Nick, Tristan Kemp, Dana Kemp, Dane Moore and wife Kat, Sydney Moore-Keller and husband Steve; and a great granddaughter, Madison Taylor.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Tuesday, September 22, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., when prayers of remembrance will be held by his family. Military honors will follow, accorded at the funeral home by VFW Post 8543 and Fayette County Vietnam Veterans, Inc.
Private interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
