Paul J. Skovera, age 93, of West Hartford, CT., passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Hughes Health & Rehab Center in West Hartford. Paul was born in Oliver, PA., son of the late Matthew J. and Anna Skovera.
Paul was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Airborne. He fought proudly in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII and again during the Korean Conflict. Paul served his country for over 25 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of both, the Uniontown and West Hartford branches of the V.F.W.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Todd Skovera; three brothers, John Skovera, Steve Skovera, and Matthew Skovera; and two sisters, Katheryn Renner and Roselma Figas.
Left to cherish his memory are, a granddaughter, Candice Skovera; two sisters, Margaret Krzynawek of Hartford, CT., and Ethel Unetich of Bridgeville, PA. Paul was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 9:30 - 10:30AM. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church at 11:00AM with Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.
Entombment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery located in Uniontown, PA.
Military Honors will be accorded by the AMVETS Post #103 of Hopwood, PA.
