Paul E. Kolp's Obituary
Paul E. Kolp, Jr., age 89, of Lemont Furnace, PA., passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Uniontown Hospital. Paul was born in Westmoreland County, son of the late Paul E. Kolp Sr. and Anna (Burick) Kolp.
Paul was a veteran of WWII, where he served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, a lifetime member of the Lemont Sportsman's Club and a former member of the North Union V.F.W. Paul loved gardening and watching Pittsburgh sports including the Pirates and Steelers. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Joseph Kolp; and three sisters, Mary Giglio, Helen Tonio, and Agnes Trimbath.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Bertha (Balchak) Kolp; three children, Edward P. Kolp and wife Linda of Hopwood, PA., Barbara K. Jacobson and husband Eric of Colchester, CT., and Sandra L. Kolp of Lemont Furnace; four grandchildren, Joseph Kolp, Monica Mitchell and husband Jason, Eric Jacobson and partner Verna, and Paul Jacobson; five great grandchildren, Kaila Kolp, Christian Mitchell, Alexander Mitchell, Ashley Jacobson, and Alicia Jacobson; a sister, Margaret Sintich of Uniontown; a special great nephew, Bryan Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. and again on Wednesday, January 16 until 9:30 AM when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM
Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery located in Uniontown, PA.
Military Honors will be accorded by the AMVETS Post #103 of Hopwood, PA.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 15 at 3:30 PM.
