Obituary

Patrick Joseph Giannatti, MD, PhD, 87, of Uniontown, formerly of Richmond, VA, died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on March 30, 1927 in Uniontown, PA, son of the late Patsy and Margaret (Ricci) Giannattasio (Giannatti).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Elmer,
Joseph "Pepe", Gennaro, James, Donald, and Frank; two sisters, Della Mancini and Josephine Silver; as well as his beloved dog "Skippy", his longtime friend and companion.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving caregivers, niece, Peggy (Silver) Matheson-Crable and husband Wayne, and nephew, Dante "Dan" Mancini, all of Uniontown, PA; nephew, George D. "Pooch" Silver of Crystal Lake, FL; a sister, Rose Bradley of Atlanta, GA; and many other dear nieces, nephews, and their families.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Point Manor North, especially Fanny and Carol Ann for their compassion and wonderful care.

During the Korean War, Patrick proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Medic at the rank of Captain His interests in medicine lead him to earn his degree as Nurse Anesthetist at Waynesburg College. He pursued his dreams, graduating from Medical School as an Anesthesiologist, and teaching medicine at the University of Richmond, VA for many years. During that time he earned doctorate degrees in Chemistry, Psychology, Psychiatry, and Education. He was a certified airplane pilot, skydiver, a world traveler, and humanitarian; teaching medical students in Thailand, and donating his skills for corrective surgery to children born with cleft palates.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Michael W. Matusak Officiating.

Private inurnment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
