IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicole L.
Sleighter
September 2, 1987 – May 3, 2025
Nicole Leigh Sleighter, 37, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly of Uniontown, PA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in her sleep on May 3, 2025.
Born on September 2, 1987, Nicole was the first child of Robert W. Sleighter Sr. and Susan C. Sleighter. From the day she was born, Nicole captured our hearts. She was both bright and adorable, and it was clear even in her earliest moments that she was special.
A graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and West Virginia University, Nicole spent time working in New York City, NY, Pittsburgh, PA and Las Vegas, Nevada. She ultimately settled in Henderson Nevada where she thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather with her dog and loving companion Captain.
Nicole deeply loved her family and, though she lived across the country, she remained closely connected through daily calls and FaceTime chats. Her cheerful voice, infectious laugh, and warm smile brought comfort and joy to those who knew her. Compassionate, trusting, and generous to a fault, Nicole saw only the good in people. Her heart was open to all, and her love was limitless.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Robert and Susan Sleighter, and her three siblings whom she cherished beyond measure:
- Rachel Licciardi and her husband Nicholas of Uniontown, PA, and their children Olivia and Luca, who lovingly called her "Aunt Picole"—a nickname Nicole wore with pride.
- Natalie Pegg and her husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, PA—Nicole often turned to her "little sister" for advice and guidance.
- Robert W. Sleighter Jr. of Uniontown, PA—her "little brother," whom Nicole admired and frequently praised for the man he had become.
Nicole was home with her family for an extended stay over the 2024 Christmas holidays. That time together, filled with laughter, and simple joys, created beautiful lasting memories. During that visit, she shared a particularly special moment with her paternal grandmother, Pauline Sleighter, who remained a constant source of love and encouragement in Nicole's life.
Nicole cherished her extended family and the connections that shaped her. She held deep love for:
- Aunt Mary Grego and husband Jim of Uniontown, PA
- Uncle John Sleighter and wife Mary of Gibsonia, PA
- Aunt Sharon John and husband Simon of Uniontown, PA
- Uncle Chris Sleighter (deceased 2024) and wife Linda of Uniontown, PA — Nicole often spoke of a very special visit she had with "Uncle Chris" before his passing
- Late Aunt Sue McGee and late Uncle Bill McGee, Las Vegas, NV
Although Nicole never met her paternal grandfather, John Ross Sleighter (deceased 1963), his legacy remained part of her story through the family that loved them both.
Nicole was also the first grandchild of her maternal grandparents, the late Elias "Ed" Nickman Sr. and Ruth Nickman, with whom she shared an extraordinary bond. She was truly "the apple of her grandfather's eye," and she often spoke of the love she felt from both "Gidee" and Grandma Ruthie.
She is also survived by her beloved Aunt Dr. Stephanie Nickman Triplett and husband Dr. Bruce Triplett of Uniontown. Nicole often recounted trips to Touchstone for crafts as a little girl with sister Rachel that were orchestrated by "Aunt Steph" and included the trio singing along to "Steve Miller's Greatest Hits".
Nicole was profoundly impacted by the tragic passing of her Uncle Eddie in 2020 and was always willing to help with the Elias Nickman Jr Foundation that honors him.
Nicole's affection for her many cousins—spread across Uniontown, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Las Vegas—was endless. She took pride in sharing stories about her extended family with everyone she met in Nevada.
