Nicholas J. "Nick" Sabatini, 89, of Uniontown, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on August 8, 1925 in Lawrenceville, PA, son of Nazzareno and Maria (Orsini) Sabatini who preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Sabatini, and six brothers and sisters, Laura Gabi, Michael Sabatini, Jill Giangreco, Adelia Perretti, Adario Sabatini, and infant James Sabatini.

Nick was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 Hopwood, American Legion Post 51, and the Uniontown VFW. He proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army Medical Division in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations where he received a Purple Heart and several Bronze Battlestars.

He was a retired Crane Operator, and for 13 years worked at Fruhauf Corporation, and also managed McDonalds Restaurant (Morgantown St.) where the first "Big Mac" was created. He was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed playing Bingo, and loved spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 36 years, Opal M. (Stafford) Sabatini; children, Nick J. Sabatini and wife Georgia of Maryland, Jim Sabatini and wife Kay of Rostraver, PA, Arlene Hughes and fianc Mallard George; step-children, Shirley Pischko, Susan Coburn, Mike Coburn, Richard Baker, Kim Baker, Russell Baker, Rose Schoak, and Carl Schoak; grandchildren, Nick Sabatini and wife Kathy, and Nicolette Hughes; great grandson, Cooper Sabatini; sisters, Josephine Hudik and husband Mike, Erma Bealko, Delores Kordella and husband Victor, Melvina Rohrer; and many other step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, this evening (Thursday) September 11 from 7-9 p.m., Friday, September 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; and on Saturday, September 13, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, PA, with Msgr. Michael W. Matusak as Celebrant.

Interment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA, where military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
