Obituary

Mildred C. (Olenik) Tippen, 91, lifelong resident of Masontown, PA, died peacefully at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016. She was born on April 30, 1924, daughter of Joseph S. and Anna C. (Urbany) Olenik.

Her parents, first husband Alvo Vignali, and siblings, Dorothy Zebrasky, Geraldine Estanich, Joseph Olenik, and Patricia Holupka preceded her in death.

Mildred was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, and was a graduate of All Saints High School, Masontown. In early years she was employed with Vignali's Grocery Store of Masontown, and Sears Department Store in Uniontown.

She and her husband Edward Tippen owned and operated Victor J. Urbany Furniture and Appliances in Masontown. Mildred enjoyed painting, and was a talented artist. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Surviving is her husband of 30 years, Edward J. Tippen; her son, William A. Vignali and wife Ramona L Vignali of Austintown, Ohio; five grandchildren, Marie Steelberg and husband Derek of Chicago, IL, Christina Saluan and husband Andrew of Naples, FL, William V. Vignali and wife Dana of Westerville, OH, Juliana Stutchbury and husband Jason of Chatham, NJ, and Ramon L. Vignali and wife Meloni of Blacklick, OH; 13 beloved great grandchildren; a sister, Joanne McDonald and husband Stewart of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family sincerely thanks the nurses and caregivers of Amedisys Hospice, Vickie, Beth Ann, Melissa, and Danielle; and also the staff of Lafayette Manor, Father Jim Clark, and Father Jim Morley.

Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Sunday, February 7, from 2 pm - 7 pm; and on Monday morning until 9 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday in St Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, PA.

Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, PA.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 3 pm.

In Mildred's memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Ste E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
