Mildred (Morrison) Martin, 90, of Lemont Furnace, passed away at home on Monday, July 29, 2024.
She was born at home in Farmington, PA on September 22, 1933. The daughter of the late Floyd and Sadie (Mullins) Morrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Martin; son, Gary Martin; grandson Frankie; and two sisters, Edna Dean and Martha Mego.
Mildred was a 1951 graduate of North Union High School, and she served on the reunion committee. After graduating she married our Daddy, and worked several jobs before getting a job with the United States Postal Service, where she worked for 43 years and retired after serving as the postmaster of the Mount Braddock Post Office.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She loved to bowl and was in a league until the age of 83. She loved traveling, reading, and watching the Steelers. Mildred was known for many wedding and birthday cakes she made for family and friends.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters, whom were her caregivers, Tammy Gilbert and husband Mark and Lana Miller and husband Dave; daughter in law, LeAnna Martin; grandchildren, Kurt (Sally) Martin, Megan Miller, Sara (Evan) Sestito, Rachel Gilbert, Fonda (Paul) Conaway, David (Celia Carver) Hall and Melissa Hall and her late husband Vernon; 15 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, especially Tiffany, Tora, and Chris.
Viewing for Mildred will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, on Thursday, August 1 from 3 to 8 PM, and the funeral service at the funeral home on Friday, August 2 at 11 AM with Pastor Ken Jones officiating.
Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
