Mike Maldovan, age 86, of McClellandtown, PA., died on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Uniontown, Pa.
Mike, the son of Peter and Gafia Moldovan, was born on March 21, 1927, in Smithfield, Pa. He was married to Ida Mae (Noland) Maldovan who died on November 4, 2005.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Emil, Peter, John, James, Charles, Steven and five sisters; Amelia Klanduch, Margaret Eberhart, Mary Paul, Sylvia White, and Anne Vignali and Grandson, Gregory Michael Fedor. He has one surviving sister, Betty Vicinelly of Masontown.
Mike was a WWII Veteran and served as an Army Staff Sergeant and a member of the American Legion Post 423 of Masontown. He was also a member of Jacobs Luthern Church of Masontown. Mike was a mine foreman with U.S. Steel and spent most of his career at Maple Creek Mine.
Left to love and cherish his memory, he is survived by nine children; Retired Navy Captain Michael and wife Ruthanne of Berlin, Maryland, Melinda Buckland of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marcia Fedor and husband Greg of Robertsdale, Alabama, Mark and wife Paula of Uniontown, Melanie Madden of Las Vegas, Nevada, Monica Young of Fuque Varina, North Carolina, Monty of Pasadena, California, Melissa Robinson and husband Drew of Tampa, Florida, Marla Reckard and husband COL James Reckard of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Also 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, Inc, 515 North Main St, Masontown, PA on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 9-10 a.m.
A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Jacobs Lutheran Church, with Pastor Becky Dittenhafer Officiating.
Interment will be held in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown, PA.
