Michael E. Crackovich, age 61, of Hopwood, PA, went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2011. He fought a valiant four year battle with multiple myeloma. He was the son of the late Mike Crackovich and Mary Ann (George) Crackovich. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Markutsa; and a brother-in-law, Dale E. Coughenour.
Michael is survived by his wife Jane, of 36 years; his children, Mike Crackovich of Lorton, VA., Cathy Brown and husband Mike, of Uniontown, PA., Karen Crackovich and Brian Crackovich, at home; sisters, Ann Coughenour of Uniontown Pa., and Judy Long, of Enola, PA.; and a brother-in-law, Frank Markutsa. Michael was also the proud grandfather of Jacob Michael Brown.
Michael graduated from the former St. John's High School, Edinboro University, and California University of Pennsylvania. Michael loved teaching, gardening, landscaping, electronics, computers, traveling, and enjoyed going to his son's baseball games. Most of all he enjoyed being with family. He was a fourth grade teacher at R.W. Clark Elementary School for 36 years before retiring. Michael was also actively involved at St. John the Evangelist Church.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6-9 PM, Friday, September 23 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM, and Saturday, September 24, 2011 until 9:15 AM when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, in Uniontown, PA on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Fr. Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
