(Meta Elizabeth) Betty Fagler, 96, slipped quietly away to be with the Lord on February 25, 2014. The daughter of Belva and Philip Bridenbaugh she was born on April 13, 1917.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Martin Fagler, daughter, Marsha, son, Martin Paul, son-in-law, William Turner, brother, J. Ross Bridenbaugh, brother -in-law Robert Mills.
Betty graduated from New Castle High School, Oberlin College, and Penn State University. She served in the Navy during WWII. She met and married Martin Fagler in 1948 while attending PSU.
Betty and Marty raised their 3 children while teaching physical education at local high schools. Betty was the girls' basketball coach at Laurel Highlands before her retirement. During retirement, she participated in church activities at Trinity Pres. and was very active in the Laurel Eastern Star. Additionally, she enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing bridge.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Marty and Melissa Fagler and Amy and Chris Turner. In addition to her grandchildren she will be deeply missed by her daughter, Marbeth, daughter-in-law, Nancy Fagler, sister, Audrey Mills as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5:00-8:00PM and Saturday March 8th 2014 until 12:00 noon, the hour of service with Rev. Thomas Holslag officiating.
