Melvin LeRoy David, age 70, of Woodside, PA, passed away February 20, 2013 at the Uniontown Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Carol David, his father Emil David, his mother Goldie McCann; an infant brother Johnny McCann; brothers, Willard McCann, Larry McCann, and Donald David.
Left to cherish his memory are a daughter Annette Malinsky and husband Gerald of Masontown, PA, son Brian David and wife Tina of Smithfield, PA, daughter Heather Stockton of Smithfield, PA; grandchildren, Jeremy Garrison, Cody Garrison and Jerry Malinsky, Matthew Malinsky, Joel David, Kayla David, Jonah David, Kaiden David, and Justine Stockton; siblings, brother Emil David and wife Wavajean of Uniontown, PA, sister Sally Shaneyfelter and husband Charlie of Turner, MT, Brother Robert David and wife Cheryl of Conway, AR, sister, Alice Yanick and husband Randy of Masontown, PA, brother Bill David and wife Marilyn of Florida, sister Susan David and husband Jim of Grays Landing, PA, brother Butch David of Carmichaels, PA, sister Mary David and husband Jack of Edenborn, PA, brother Terry David and wife Tammy of Masontown, PA, brother William David and wife Betty of Edenborn, PA, brother Benjamin David and wife Jan of Uniontown, PA.
During his lifetime Melvin was a foster parent to over 300 children. He owned his own appliance business, and served as a counselor of Adelphoi Village. Melvin was also a Unites States Navy Veteran.
Melvin's final days were spent with his family surrounding him and he touched the lives of many through his lifetime. Although his life was cut short, he was able to live it to the fullest, savoring and cherishing each moment. During his illness he spent most of his time with his family. Even though his frail body began to give up to the disease, his fighting spirit led him to living a few more days before he could peacefully ascend to Heaven. He will always be remembered.
Friends will be received in the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, today, Friday, February 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and Saturday, February 23, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the Hour of Service, with Rev. Frank Menhart Officiating.
Interment will follow at Jacob's Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown, PA, where military honors will be accorded by Amvets Post 103.
