Obituary

Mary Kathryn Williams, 85, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, died peacefully June 8, 2016 surrounded by her family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Mary was proud of being the 11th child born at home (or as Mary would say, "in the back room") to parents Mary and Thomas Elias Sr. on February 28, 1931 along with her twin sister Elizabeth "Betty" Elias.

Mary came from humble beginnings, which shaped her strength, courage, and genuine nature. Mary was modest and unpretentious often deflecting compliments and praise onto others. She led an exceptional life of generosity, kindness, and care. Mary devoted herself to her family often caring for those who were ill or in need. To Mary, family was of utmost importance. They often relied on each other in times of need and she frequently said, "We will never fall flat on our face because we have family." Known for her kind and gentile spirit, she welcomed everyone into her life. Mary always strived in making others feel at home and comfortable. Never wanting anyone to go hungry or thirsty, one always had to refuse her offers of food and drink at least three times. Mary was very spiritual who led a life of acceptance and forgiveness. She frequently said, " We are nobody's judge." She was a member of St. George Maronite Catholic Church, The Ladies Guild, and The Altar and Rosary Society. Mary graduated from St. John's High School on June 5, 1949.

Mary had a sharp and sassy wit. She loved to laugh, debate, and share her stories. She was passionate of her beliefs but willing to learn from others. She never stopped growing as a person. In her last days, Mary expressed to those she loved that life is beautiful and it's worth fighting for. She worked her whole life for the betterment of her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Williams Jr.; mother, Mary Elias; Father, Thomas Elias Sr.; sisters, Emiline Elias, Anne Yankoski, Betty Elias, Elizabeth Elias, and Dorothy Mae Elias; brothers, Thomas Elias Jr., George Elias (Cordelia), and John Elias; sister-in law Florence Elias, Harriet Rafail (Elias), Suzanne Elardo (Joseph) and brother-in law Anthony Chiola.

Mary is survived by her beloved daughters, Elizabeth Stephenson and Cynthia Williams; cherished grandchildren, Tamika Stephenson, Emily Stephenson (fianc Matthew Costabile), David Stephenson, and great granddaughter Amara Stephenson as well as loved ones Charles Stephenson and Carl Ott. She is also survived by her sisters Helen Chiola and Kathryn Elias, brothers Joseph Elias (Ann "Honey"), Francis Elias, and Richard Elias; sister-in law, Dolores Elias; brother-in law Anthony Yankoski, and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She will be profoundly missed by all of the people whose hearts she has touched.
