Obituary

Mary Bernadine (Rebidas) Spooner, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her home in Uniontown, PA, at the age of 94.

November 18, 1918 was a very special day in our lives; our Mother Mary Rebidas Spooner was born in Revere, PA during the height of the flu epidemic. Mom was the 4th child born to Matthew Rebidas and Anna Tarcon Rebidas. At the age of 5 months the family moved to Smock where mom resided until 2003.

On October 21, 1939 she married Raymond E. Spooner. They became the parents of Bernice (Mike) Rocheck of Brunswick, Ohio, Raymond (Carol) Spooner of Wellington, FL, Armand (Aggie) Spooner of Uniontown, PA, and Jeffrey (Jackie) Spooner of Waynesburg, PA. She will be deeply mourned and missed by them and their families.
Included are 7 grandchildren, Michael Rocheck, Cheryl Philipps, Suzanne Maphis, Craig Rocheck, Michelle Maddux, and Derrick and Cory Spooner. Also her 11 great grandchildren, Samantha Brewster, Kayleigh and Dylan Rocheck, Michelle and Alexandre Philipps, Brianna, Alexa and Ava Maphis, Kaitlyn, Colton, and Kylie Maddux.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the following brothers and sisters, Anna Lengvarsky, Veronica Chaikcic, Anthony, George, and Mike Rebidas, Margaret Durbin, and an infant brother Joseph.

She is survived by two sisters, Agnes Murasko and Ludmila Madison, special niece Nadine Sethman, husband Randy, and their son Jacob, and many nieces and nephews, her "adopted" son Al Core, and friend Concetta Polkabla.

Mom was a very creative person all her life. She loved to cook and bake, did crossword puzzles and was an excellent seamstress. In recent years she made thousands of crosses for shut- ins. One of her favorite pass times was sitting under a tree with Armand's devoted dog "Jessie" at her feet. Jessie looked forward to visiting Grandma daily for her treats.

Mom always had a smile, a hug or kind word for everyone. She was a devout Catholic who deeply loved God, her family and her country. She worshiped at St. Hedwig, Smock, for most of her life; then also joined St. Procopius, New Salem, after 2003.

She loved to sit on her porch to listen to the birds and rainfall, and look at the moon and stars, just enjoying God's creations.

Our world will not be the same without her. She was our rock, guide and teacher. She loved us even when we didn't deserve it.

We will love and miss you forever. Rest in peace dearest mother
