Obituary

Mary Ann Christoff, age 97, of Martin, PA, died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at her home. She was born on January 15, 1914 in Martin, PA. She was the last surviving child of ten children to the late Mike Vrabel, Sr. and Mary (Karabin) Vrabel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mike Latsnic in 1933; daughter-in-law Genevieve Latsnic in 1977; second husband, Philip Christoff in 1996, son Charles Latsnic in 2003; son-in-law, Andrew Ponick in 2006, and the following brothers and sisters, Bill Vrabel, Verna Pshock, Steve Vrabel, Betty Yukish, Katie Arndt, Annie Matthews, Mike Vrabel, Jr., Sophie Zembar, and John Vrabel.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Latsnic Ponick of McKeesport, PA, daughter, Elaine Christoff Sholtis and husband Michael of Smithfield, PA, with whom she made her home, son, Tim Christoff and wife Nancy of Powell, OH; eleven grandchildren, Drew Ponick and wife Lisa of Carnegie, PA, Doreen Ponick Franks and husband Tom of Pittsburgh, PA, Dianne Ponick-Bauman and husband Harry of Forest Hills, PA, Debra Ponick Nigon and husband John of Elizabeth, PA, Chuck Latsnic and wife Mary of Uniontown, PA, Mike Latsnic and wife Didi of Stockton, CA, Suellen Latsnic Vitullo of Millvale, PA, Douglas Sholtis of Smithfield, PA, Jennifer Christoff Zieglar and husband Bob of Galloway, OH, Jason Christoff and wife Jessica of Westerville, OH, Justin Christoff and wife Emilie of Gahanna OH; nineteen great- grandchildren, Evan and Kelsey Ponick, Nathan and Kristen Franks, Alyssa and Tessa Bauman, Shelby and Jenna Nigon, Melissa Latsnic Bizik and husband Steven, Jonathan Latsnic and wife Lauren, and Jessica Latsnic, Michael, Richard, Stephen, and Laicey Latsnic, Jaymee Vitullo, Owen Christoff, Jacob and Emily Ziegler; two great-great-grandchildren, Julia Latsnic and Emma Latsnic; two sisters-in-law, Betty Christoff Sheranko, and Judy (Mrs. John) Vrabel, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, PA.



Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc, 515 North Main St., Masontown, PA, on Saturday, April 9, from 7-9 p.m.; Sunday, April 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Monday, April 11, until 11 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, PA, with Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Mary Cemetery, Leckrone, PA.

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.

St. Mary's Rosary Society will recite the Rosary on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
