Obituary

Martin George Kolar, 86, of Masontown, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013, in the home of his daughter with his wife and son-in-law at his side.

He was born on January 20, 1927 in Gallatin, PA, son of the late Martin Kolar, Sr. and Martha (Malinsky) Kolar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Anna Christoff and Elizabeth Barto.

Martin was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, PA. (Formerly All Saints) He retired from Robena Mine as Assistant Mine Foreman after working 32 years in the mine; He served his country with the U. S. Navy, and was a member of the Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584, and Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.

Left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 63 years, Anna T. (Lukacs) Kolar; his beloved daughter, Eleanorann Kolar Miller and husband Bruce W. Miller, of Connellsville, PA; sister, Rose Smargie of Masontown, PA, his brothers; Carl Kolar of Masontown, PA, John Kolar and wife Carole of Uniontown, Pa., Brother-in-law Henry Barto of Toronto, OH. He is also survived by his grand pup Zsa Zsa and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA. On Tuesday December 10, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday December 11, 2013 until 9:30 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Parish Roman Catholic Church, 101 S. Washington St., Masontown, PA with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in St Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, PA.

Military Honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584 & The Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice for the compassionate care during his illness.
