Marie Gruber (Enz) Helmick, 104, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Cloverdale Personal Care Home, Masontown, PA. She was born on September 14, 1910, in Austria, daughter of Rupert and Marie (Voither) Enz.

She was the last member of her immediate family, preceded in death by her parents, first husband and love of her life, Andrew Gruber; her second husband, Charles Helmick; two sons, Fred Gruber and Frank Gruber; and two brothers, Fritz Enz and Tony Enz.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Andy Gruber and wife June of Willowick of Ohio; her devoted daughter-in-law and caretaker, Dorothy Gruber of Masontown, PA; five grandchildren, Andy Gruber, Jr. and wife Ann, and Mary Beth McLaughlin and husband Dale, all of Ohio, Donald Gruber and wife Gina of Masontown, PA, Frank Gruber, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Greensburg, PA, Paula Volansky and husband Jerry of Masontown, PA; 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, PA (formerly Holy Rosary Church, Republic). She was employed with the Uniontown Hospital Housekeeping Department for many years. She loved gardening, especially growing and canning her own vegetables, a gift which she shared with her family. Her greatest joy in life was raising her sons, and making her home a place of many cherished memories.

The family would like to thank the Nurses and Caregivers of Amedysis Hospice and the Cloverdale Personal Care home for their exceptional and compassionate care.

Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Thursday from 3-7 p.m.; and Friday until 9:30 am when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 am on Friday in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 101 S. Washington St., Masontown, PA, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic, PA.
