Margaret C. Zahradnik, age 94, of Uniontown, PA. passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at her Niece's home in Bethel Park. She was born in 1921 in High House, PA., Daughter of Michael and Julia (Chenock) Zahradnik.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, preceded in death by her Parents; Brothers - George, Joseph, Michael, Albert, and Bernard; Sisters - Mary and Ann; and Sister In-laws - Elizabeth and Irene.
Margaret (Marge) was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church; The Ladies of Charity, and the Golden Club. She worked for the US Government in Washington DC, was an Executive Assistant with the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Bruceton, PA, and later worked in the Unemployment Offices in Uniontown. Marge was very talented at sewing, providing sewing services to those who could not afford a Tailor. Her many activities included walking everyday to Church, swimming, ice-skating, even white water rafting at age 74. She also enjoyed reading, and there wasn't a Crossword Puzzle she couldn't tackle.
Left to cherish her memory are many grateful Nieces, Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. Many found memories include taking them on East Coast Summer Beach vacations from Cape Cod, Mass. to Ocean City, Maryland; as well as educational trips to Washington, DC. and many Historical Memorials and Parks.
Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Friday November 13, from 2-4 and 6-8; and on Saturday, November 14 until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said .
The Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday November 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as celebrant.
Interment will be held at St. Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 13, at 3:00 p.m..
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church Building Fund.
