Margaret D. (Novotny) Shaffer, 85, of Uniontown, PA, died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center.

She was born on May 24, 1928 in Oliver #1, PA, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Valencik) Novotny.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry G. Shaffer; brothers, John, Joe, Martin, and Eddie Novotny; sisters, Mary Novotny, and Catherine Banks.

Margaret was the last member of her immediate family. She graduated from North Union High School Class of 1949. She was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown, PA. By her family and friends she was lovingly known as "Jiggsy".

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann, son-in-law, Bob Lindsay, and granddaughter, Rachel of Uniontown, and also many nieces and nephews.

For the last four years she spent time at Maplewood Adult Day Center, where she was treated with care and respect, and the staff was wonderful to her.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA., on Monday, July 15, from 2 - 8 p.m., and again on Tuesday, July 16, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA, with Rev. Father James W. Clark as Celebrant.

Interment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA

The Parish Wake Service will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
