Obituary

Margaret J. (Olesko) Duranko, 94, of Uniontown, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born on July 8, 1921, in Leisenring, PA, a daughter of the late John and Julie (Miklos) Olesko.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph W. Duranko; her son, Richard Duranko and infant son, Ronald Duranko; grandchildren, Francis Duranko Jr., and Lori Takac; infant great grandson, Gage Bache; siblings, Mary Sabik, Anna Costenic, Veronica Lopshire, and Elizabeth Stickle-Walsh; and daughter-in-law, Margie Duranko.

Margaret was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Uniontown, PA. She was an avid bingo player, and loved to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Francis Duranko of Uniontown, Janet Sopkovich and her husband Andrew of Uniontown, Ruth Takac and her husband Ronald of Moon Township, Joyce Humphrey and her husband Donald of FL, Yvonne Cindric and her husband Andrew of FL, and Deborah Kalich of Oliver; grandchildren, Cherie Sopkovich of Uniontown, Kathy Sloan and her husband Bob of Uniontown, Andrea Fuller and her husband Dan of Uniontown, Joseph Duranko of MD, Cindy Duranko and her partner Cindy Smith of MD, Susan Bache of NC, Lee Duranko of VA, Jeff Duranko, Michael Duranko of Carmichaels, Renee Polk of VA, Ronald Takac and his wife Lynn of NC, Mark Takac and his wife Kristina of Cranberry, Gregory Takac and his wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, David Beatty and his wife Rebecca of Lancaster, William Beatty of FL, Greg Beatty and wife Pam of FL, Todd Cindric and his wife Cherrie of Greensburg, Jason Cindric and his wife Stephanie of FL, Michael Kalich and his wife Jennifer of VA, Matthew Kalich and Brandi of Uniontown; sister, Gertrude Gallik of Uniontown; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Sunday, March 6, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday, March 7, until 9:30 a.m. when the Panachida Service will be held.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 185 East Main Street, Uniontown, PA, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father Ronald P. Larko as Celebrant.

The Parastas Service will be held Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, PA.
