Malcolm (Mac) McGaughey, age 88, formerly of Dunbar, PA, passed away on March 24, 2011 at the Uniontown Hospital after a short illness.

Mac was born in Brownsville PA., on August 6, 1922 to Robert and Helen (Shaw) McGaughey. He was a devoted husband to Sarah (Sally) Shoemaker who passed away November 2, 2008. He was predeceased by a son Robert (Bob) who passed away in May of 1979; brothers Charles, Robert, and Edward; and a sister Helen Darkangelo.

Mac was a member of the 13th Armored Division Black Cats. He served proudly for our country in WWII. He was a member of Laurel Lodge 651 F&A.M of Uniontown, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 51 of Uniontown. Mac was a member and former elder of Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. Mac retired from Foseco of Mt. Braddock after 43 years of service.

Malcolm was the loving father of Kerry McGaughey. Also left to cherish his memory are special people in his life; his daughter-in-law Cathy Kemmerer of Ligonier, His son-in-law John Griffis of Uniontown, a special nephew Gary McGaughey of Denver, Colorado, and many Nieces and Nephews who all had a special place in his heart.

Malcolm was the patriarch of his family, and a loving man who would do anything for anyone. He was known for his yard sales. He was always ready to wave at a passing stranger as he was tinkering around with something in his yard. Mac and Sally took great joy in visiting a sick or lonely friend. A kind and gentle man he stood for what he believed in. Sometimes a man of few words, he was honest and loyal and would always tell you the truth. But most of all he was always ready to help those in need.

Mac loved to travel and go camping in his early years. He was excited to go and play penny slots. He will be fondly remembered and loved by all that knew him. Heaven has just added another angel.

We would like to give special thanks to Sherry & Judy, Linda Seaman and the entire staff of the Uniontown Hospital 4th floor, Dr. Cockerham and Fayette Home Care and Hospice. The Staff at Cherry Tree nursing facility, 3rd floor and Doctors Burns, Shipley and Hunter from Westmoreland Hospital as well as the staff from the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Monday, March 28 from 2-9 PM; and on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 until 11:00 AM, when a Prayer Vigil will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, with former Pastor Bonnie Hartley officiating.

Interment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA., where military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

Laurel Lodge #651, F& AM will hold Masonic Services on Monday at 7 p.m.
