Louis "Louie" Kovach, Jr., age 60 of Carmichaels, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on December 30, 1954 in Waynesburg, PA, son of the late Louis and Maxine L. (Metcalf) Kovach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jane Hunchuck.
Louie was the owner of the Locker Room Lounge, Route 21, McClellandtown, which he operated with his father "Pappy Lou" for many years. He was a retired coal miner and member of UMWA District 5, member of the Pals Social Club, Italo-American Citizens Club, and the Redstone Club. He coached the Little Knights Softball Team for many years. Louie loved everyone, and was greatly loved by all. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Cindy (Hunchuck) Kovach; two sons, Chad Kovach and Todd Kovach, both of Carmichaels; his sisters, Dianne Kovach of Masontown, PA, and Dottie Barnes and husband Albert, Jr. of Morgantown, WV; nephew Derek Barnes, and niece Alisa Lockett and husband Migel, great-niece, Averi Lockett, and great-nephew Anthony Lockett; his father-in-law Mike Hunchuck of Grays Landing, PA; brother-in-law Ron Hunchuck; sister-in-law Claudia Butorac, niece Kayla Lucostic and great- nephew Leo; niece Emily Butorac and great- niece Alaina; and niece Anna Glad. He also leaves behind his beloved dog "Sushi.
Friends will be received at the Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 515 N. Main St., Masontown, PA, on Tuesday, May 26, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.; and on Wednesday morning until 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home, with Rev. Father William G. Berkey Officiating.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help St. mary Cemetery, Leckrone, PA.
