Loretta Ann (Karpel) Ryan, 76, of Uniontown, Pa., lost her battle with cancer after 10 years, and passed away at home with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

She was born on May 2, 1942 in Buffington, Pa., daughter of the late John and Anna (Ihnat) Karpel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Ryan, and siblings, Adeline, Johnny, Jerome, Walter, Raymond, Bernie, Joseph, Ronald, Francis "Butch", and Richard; and a brother-in-law, Regis Heffern.

Loretta was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Hutchinson Sportsman's Club Auxiliary, and Polish Club.

She had been employed in the past as a Corrections Officer with the Fayette County Prison, and also had been employed with Uniontown Hospital. Her strength and determination, kind and loving heart will never be forgotten by her family.

Surviving is her loving husband with whom she would have celebrated 54 years of marriage on February 13, Lawrence Wilson Ryan, Sr.; their children, Lawrence Wilson "Bud" Ryan Jr. and wife Lisa, Lori Lynn Ryan Bryner and husband Benny "Mike", and Lisa Marie Ryan Martin and husband Sean, all of Uniontown; grandchildren, Daclyn Ryan, David Georgiana, II., Roger B. Martin, and Haley Martin and fiancée Adam Holliday; great grandson,, Austin William Martin; a sister, Rose Karpel Heffern of Ohio, and brother, Leonard Karpel and wife Heleen of New Salem; a sister-in-law, Shirley Karpel of New Salem, Pa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, her immediate family will gather privately at the funeral home; there will be no public visitation.

A Funeral Mass will be held for family and friends on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, Pa.
