Leonard James Hunter, 86, a lifelong resident of Keisterville, Pa. passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 3, 2017. He was born on January 15, 1931 in Keisterville, son of the late Anthony Mysliwiec and Stella (Brosky) Mysliwiec.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline Trinkle, Helen Grady Camerer, Anna Gleason, Frances Chesnock, infant sister Cecelia, and two brothers, Theodore "Casey" Hunter, and Edward F. Hunter.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Mary B. (Pompura) Hunter; their children, Annette Hunter-Lisecki and husband Peter Lisecki of Clinton, NJ, Mary Frances Hunter and husband Peter Ruotolo of Milton, NY, and Anthony M. Hunter at home; two grandchildren, Ian Lisecki and Emily (Lisecki) Von Richter and husband Andros; a sister, Rita Horger of Sacramento, CA, and a brother, Tom Hunter and wife Marlene of Keisterville, PA; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Leonard was a graduate of Uniontown High School Class of 1949, California University, Kent State University, and continued his graduate studies at West Virginia University. He earned a Masters Degree in Education, and as an educator also headed the Administration of Properties and Facilities for Intermediate Unit 1 in California, Pa.

During the Korean War he proudly served his country with the United States Army (SIG) at the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, and the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

He was a man of success who lived well, laughed often, and loved much. He gained the respect of intelligent men and women and the love of children. He has filled his niche and accomplished his task and leaves the world better than he found it. He was never lacking in appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it and he always looked for the best in others.

Friends will be received at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa. on Thursday, June 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.; and on Friday, June 9, until 9:15 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, 61 N. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, Pa, with Rev. Father Peter L. Peretti as celebrant.

Military honors will be accorded following the Mass by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103.

The Parish Wake Service led by the Lazarus Ministry will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
