Lawrence A. "Hunch" Hunchuck, M.S., age 57 of Uniontown, PA, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013, as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident in June of 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born in Uniontown on May 10, 1955 to John M. Hunchuck, Sr. and Teresa A. (Cochick) Hunchuck, who preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Mary L. (Barbabella) Hunchuck; four children, Aaron Matthew Hunchuck, wife Jayme and their daughter Chloe J., Steven Nicholas Hunchuck, Christopher Michael Hunchuck, and Heather Victoria Hunchuck, all of Uniontown, PA; his brother, John M. Hunchuck, Jr. and wife Lou Ann of Uniontown, PA and their daughters, Marita, Lauren, Michelle, and Jennifer; a sister-in-law, twin, Kate Aldom and daughter Samantha of Florida; brother-in-law, Ed Barbabella and wife Carol and their daughters, Tia and Sheena, all of Florida; a great niece, and two great nephews; and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Larry was a member of St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Albert Gallatin Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council 1275. He was a graduate of Fairchance-Georges High School Class of 1973, earned his B.A. in Mining Engineering at West Virginia University, and Masters Degree at Pitt University.
He retired from U.S. Steel Corp. after 30 years as a Mining Engineer, and joined the Faculty of Penn State University -Eberly Campus, where he served as the Program Coordinator of Mining Technology. He was also a retired Scout Master Troop 612 St. Therese Church.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, PA, today (Friday) January 11, from 2-9 p.m.; and on Saturday, January 12, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 30 Mill St., Uniontown, Pa, with Monsignor Michael W. Matusak as Celebrant.
Interment will be held at St. Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
The Parish Wake Service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 3 p.m.
The Albert Gallatin Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand guard at the vigil from 7-8 p.m. this evening.
