IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn M.
(Angel) Marcinak
November 11, 1928 – November 13, 2023
Kathryn M. Angel Marcinak (known as Kate, Kathy and Grandy), 95, previously of Masontown,
left this world on November 13, 2023 to enter God's kingdom after a long stay in the Bethel Park
Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. Kathy was well-cared for on the dementia unit there which
was truly appreciated by her immediate family more than the staff will ever know.
Kathryn Marie Angel was born in Uniontown, PA on November 11, 1928 to Frank and Susan
(Vardzal) Angel (both of whom had immigrated to Fairchance from Czechoslovakia). After
graduating as valedictorian from Fairchance High School, Kathryn went to work at the US Post
Office in Fairchance until after the birth of her first child.
She met the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Marcinak at a local dance and after an exciting
courtship, they were married on November 12, 1955. They first lived in McClellandtown where
they built and ran The Cork Club (on Route 21at what later was known as Mario's) together
while Jerry was a school teacher and a gas station owner. Kathy and Jerry were blessed with 4
living children, Pamela Wrobleski (Michael Somales) of Sutersville, Gerald Marcinak Jr. (Mary
"Sissy" Biller) of Bethel Park, Karen Nocilla (Tony Kalinosky) of Wyoming, PA, and James
Marcinak (Maria Marinucci) of McMurray. The family lived for a year in Spring Valley, New York
where Jerry took a teaching position but they missed life in southwestern PA so they returned
and eventually built a new home in Masontown when Jerry became the school superintendent
at Southeastern Greene School district.
Kathy was a very devoted wife and mother who stayed home to raise her children and instilled
faith in God, a strong work ethic, and her passion for life in them. She later went to work for the
Fayette County Intermediate Unit as a teacher's aide for the hearing impaired classes. After she
retired, Kate spent her time volunteering to deliver Meals on Wheels, enjoying her
grandchildren, watching sporting events, visiting friends, traveling, dancing and golfing with her
husband, playing bingo and occasionally trying her luck at the blackjack tables at the Meadows
casino! Kate loved to go to parties, get dressed up, and have the whole family together as often
as possible for any reason to celebrate!
Kate was predeceased in 2001 by her husband, Jerry, along with her parents, her mother- and
father-in-law Martha and Walter Marcinak, her twin brothers Frank and Andrew Angel, and one
daughter who died prior to birth. Other close family members who predeceased her included
sisters Helen (Hudock) Yates and Mary Swetts and brothers Steve Angel, John Hudock, John
Angel, Joseph Hudock, and Charles Hudock as well as their spouses and many brothers- and
sisters-in-laws.
Nothing brought Kathryn more joy than knowing her children and their children were happy and
safe as they were her main focus, so she made many trips up and down the highways to attend
many of their various events. She was lovingly known as "Grandy" to her 9 grandchildren,
Robert "BJ" Wrobleski (Katey Mauro), Dr. Ivana Wrobleski Wilder (Dr. Travis), Alyssa Marcinak,
Gerald Marcinak III, Cayla Marcinak, Jessica Clowes, Leah Nocilla Blockinger (Larry), Hanna
Marcinak, and Garrett Marcinak. Grandy also has 2 great-grandchildren, Levi Dimperio (son of
Leah) and Canyon Wilder (son of Ivana).
There are many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors that will also miss
Kathy's gentle, generous heart, amazing sense of humor and sometimes ornery comments!
She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Annaclaire Marcinak Tomko of Eastlake, Ohio.
Visitation will be held at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, 603
North Gallatin Avenue Extension in Uniontown on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9:30 AM
to 11 AM with a funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 12 noon at St. Francis of Assisi
Church, 101 W. Church Ave. in Masontown (previously known as All Saints Parish Church)
where Kathy attended regularly her entire life. A brief graveside burial service will follow for family and close friends at St. Agnes Cemetery on Leckrone Masontown Road..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to any of these
organizations: Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center; The American Cancer Society;
Center for Hearing and Deaf Services; or Wreaths Across America.
