Kathleen M. (Zitney) Kruest, 57, of Vanderbilt, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at home. She was born on January 17, 1957 in Uniontown, PA, daughter of Bruno Frank Zitney and Agnes M. (Cutler) Zitney. Her parents; brothers, Tom and Robert Zitney, and adopted mother, Laura Kuratz preceded her in death.
Kathy graduated from Uniontown High School. She was raised on a dairy farm, and enjoyed farming most of her life. She loved her animals, planting flowers, and gardening. She was also very active in 4-H with her children.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 32 years, Harry E. Kruest; their children, daughter, Stephanie David and husband Charles of Smock; daughter, Sarah Geary and husband Curtis of Bullskin; son, Matthew Kruest at home; granddaughter, Piper Geary; a brother, Frank Zitney and wife Lori of Vanderbilt; a sister, Patricia Young of Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Judy Zitney of S. Connellsville; and nieces and nephews, Chrissy Liles, Joan Horvat, Becky Grisales, Virginia Ellis, Frank Zitney, Jr., Zack Zitney, and Lacy Zitney.
Friends will be received in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, Inc., 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA, on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m.; Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; and on Saturday until 10 a.m..
A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Father Bob Lubic Officiating.
Interment will be privately held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
